The Harvard Club of New York City promotes camaraderie among its members and reflects the spirit of Harvard University. Membership is an opportunity to join the HCNY community and connect, socially and professionally, through access to clubhouse facilities, a full schedule of programs, and shared interest groups. Programs range from talks and lectures on topical events, musical performances, art classes, and wine tastings, to networking events and holiday celebrations.

Regular Membership Application /  Timeline
After you apply and your Harvard affiliation is verified (please see eligibility requirements below), you will be contacted within approximately 2 to 3 weeks with your membership information. Contact newmembers@hcny.com with any questions.

Rejoining the Club
For resigned members who wish to reinstate their membership, a reinstatement fee of 25% of current membership dues or a minimum of $250 will be applied. This applies to members who resigned on or after July 1, 2020 and within 10 years of their effective resignation date.

In general, a person is eligible for regular membership if they have received a degree from Harvard University. They are also eligible if they are, or have been:

  • A tenured member of the faculty of Harvard University.
  • A faculty member or officer or other holder of a University appointment for at least one full academic year.
  • A member of any Board or Committee of the University.
  • A student in good standing in any department of the University for at least one full academic year (with the exception that no current student in any department of the University shall be eligible unless they’ve already received a degree from the University).
  • A person who has completed an academic program of a graduate department of the University (defined by the University as of June 1, 2004 as qualifying a program participant as an alumnus or alumna for purposes of inclusion in the Harvard Alumni Association Directory “HAA”).

Suburban MEMBERSHIP

Members not living or working in the five boroughs of New York City but have a residence, regular place of business/place of employment outside of New York City but within a 50 mile radius of the Club.

General Eligibility

In general, a person is eligible for regular membership if they have received a degree from Harvard University. They are also eligible if they are, or have been:

  • A tenured member of the faculty of Harvard University.
  • A faculty member or officer or other holder of a University appointment for at least one full academic year.
  • A member of any Board or Committee of the University.
  • A student in good standing in any department of the University for at least one full academic year (with the exception that no current student in any department of the University shall be eligible unless they’ve already received a degree from the University).

Special Membership Categories

Signing Privileges

For spouses or life partners of Members who have not attended Harvard need to get signing privileges, for 50% of the annual dues for the applicable category in effect.

Members of the Harvard Club of New York City may enjoy a reduced dues rate, if you are concurrently a member of the Harvard Club of Boston (Applicable to those with individual/full memberships at HCB).  Please contact the New Membership Office for additional details.
