Social Events

From social gatherings, birthdays or your engagement party to the wedding day and all the milestones in between, the Harvard Club of NYC will handle the details from beginning to end.  A dedicated Catering Manager will assist with bespoke menus and floral arrangements (or flowers), photography and entertainment arrangements to ensure that each need is flawlessly met. A private menu tasting, overnight bridal suite and custom wedding cake are included. Kosher menus are also available.

Our Venues

The Club offers eight elegant rooms for private events and weddings. Exchange vows in Harvard Hall, splendid with its three-story, floor-to ceiling windows and rich, dark Mahogany paneling. The Gordon Reading Room lends itself to wedding portraits filled with the charm of a traditional New York residence. Here are some sample rooms:

A historic room for larger affairs.

The Main Dining Room (MDR) is a grand room with exquisite views ideal for galas and large gatherings. The grandeur of the room is exhibited by its fifteen foot tall windows, two original fireplaces, trophies and the portraits of many important dignitaries and former Club Members.

This room opened in 1915, the centerpiece of the Club’s expansion that year, also by architects McKim Mead & White. It is embellished with Harvard insignia, and a beautiful plaster ceiling.

A truly unique setting with old-world grandeur.

The grandest room in the Club opened in 1905 as part of the first building expansion. It originally served as the Dining Room. Designed by Charles F. McKim of McKim Mead & White, it is 90’ long and has a 40’ ceiling, evoking Palladian inspired 17th century English architecture. The Flemish tapestries are early 18th century and depict scenes of the Triumphs of Alexander the Great. The mounted African elephant head was donated by Club member William Sewall, Class of 1897, in 1909.

A room framed by books, fireplaces and expansive windows.

Part of the original 1894 Clubhouse, this room, the largest in the Club at that time, held the Reading Room/Library. In 1905 as part of the Club’s first expansion, the beautiful plaster ceiling and marble fireplaces were added. In 1941 it was converted to the Ladies Lounge, when a portion of the Clubhouse was segregated into Ladies Quarters.

Named in 1925 for Nicholas Biddle, Class of 1900, House Committee and Building Committee Chairman and personal financial advisor to Vincent Astor, multi-millionaire heir to the Astor estate.

A floor-to-ceiling, wood-paneled room overlooking 44th street.

This room’s original use in the first 1894 building was the Billiard Room, set with a pool table. Named in 1945 after a dining group known as “The Mahogany Club” who financed the plaster ceiling and the paneling in 1905.
