Application Process
Becoming an HCNY Member is easy, and we are here to help you through every step
of the process.
1. Complete an Application Form.
Be sure to include all the required information, especially your undergraduate year.*
2. Interview.
Once you have submitted your application, you are required to interview with Admissions
Committee Members or delegates of the Committee. This is organized at the Club's
bi-monthly receptions held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. If you are unable to come to the Club,
we can help you arrange to meet a delegate. Resident and suburban applicants need two
interviews, non-resident applicants need one. A definition of each type of member is below.
3. Await Review Process.
The Admissions Committee meets to consider your application. Depending upon when you
submit, the Admissions Committee Meeting will consider your application.
Meeting Dates and Application Deadlines
4. Notification.
You will be notified immediately with the results of their meeting.
5. Activation.
Once you have been elected, a candidate for regular membership shall become a member
of the Club upon election and payment of the applicable entrance fee and annual dues.
Entrance Fee & Dues
The entrance fee for regular members shall be at 100% of the applicable first year dues,
subject to a minimum of $150.00. Entrance fees may be paid in 3 installments over two years,
with the first one-third installment due upon election. The entrance fee is waived for Harvard
College graduates who join the Club within one year of graduation, i.e., June-May.
Dues may be paid on a semi-annual basis as of July 1, and January 1, except that in the case
of candidates elected after September 1, or March 1, the amount of dues payable shall be
reduced by one half of the semi-annual dues for the current half year.
The entrance fee will be waived for recent Harvard College graduates who apply by March 31
following their graduation (note: whether the graduation is in May/June of the previous year or in
December/January of the current year). The admissions process typically takes 1-2 months, so this
early deadline is important to ensure admission.
Dues Schedule is subject to New York State Sales Tax.
* The requirement of recommendation letters from the proposer and seconder has been suspended by
the Board of Managers for a period of two years to expire in June, 2010.
